Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) is a versatile member of the polyester family. Available as either an amorphous or semi-crystalline thermoplastic, PET is known for its high density, good creep strength, low moisture absorption, and dimensional stability. In its amorphous state, PET offers high transparency, but lower mechanical properties. In its semi-crystalline form PET offers high rigidity and strength, hardness, and low wear.
PET is well suited for complex applications that demand exacting dimensional accuracy and surface quality, and its standard colors include light amber, dark amber, clear, dark green, and white. At Controlled Fluidics, we use unfilled PET plate up to 1” thick.
Why Choose PET?
- High density
- Good creep strength
- Low moisture absorption
- Dimensional stability
- Low sliding friction and sliding wear
- Good chemical resistance to acids
- Resistant to hydrolysis (up to 158F)
