Short lead times are a common challenge in a manufacturing landscape focused on driving innovation to market. Controlled Fluidics is committed to supporting our customers on even the tightest timelines. Depending on the manifold configuration, we have multiple options for rapid response solutions:

  • Quick turn delivery in as little as one week for printed manifolds.
  • Quick turn delivery in as little as two weeks for production equivalent two-layer manifold in acrylic.
  • Quick turn delivery in as little as three weeks for production equivalent two-layer manifold in Ultem or PC.
  • Quick turn delivery in as little as four weeks for production equivalent three (or more) layer manifold in any material.

For machined plastic parts, our quick turnaround can be as short as 2 weeks for small quality, medium complexity work. Polishing generally adds 2 days. More complex parts or difficult-to-source material does add time.

  • Material choice – Concerns with cost, mechanical properties, and chemical resistance are common. Our knowledge and library are extensive, covering all the available plastics. When conventional materials don’t support a project’s requirements, we turn to custom blended plastics for out-of-the-box solutions.

When your project needs spec perfect, difficult to machine parts, Controlled Fluidics is the provider you choose. With decades of experience not just in turning plastic but in turning precision parts, Controlled Fluidics brings our engineering expertise to make sure that you end up with precisely the right part. With our seven-axis lathe, we are ready to create close tolerance, precision finish components that bring your project to life.


Finish and Tolerances

Pushing the limits of technology, we produce superior finishes and extremely close tolerances. Finish and tolerances are often intertwined. We can produce lathe components with tolerances to +/-.0002 given an appropriate material choice and part size. Finishes below 32 microinches are typical with finishes of less than two microinches possible.

Many medical devices require clear turn components when machining amorphous plastics. Using cutting-edge techniques, we can produce lathe parts for optical applications directly from the machine tool, always with low stress and with no post machining polishing required. Our efficiency is the key to offering our customers more competitive pricing.

See-Through Applications

Plastic Lathe Micromachining

Controlled Fluidics specializes in small/micromachining. Typical applications are in the cable industry, producing high performance turned insulators in Teflon and Ultem. Tolerances are held close, normally +/- .0005 or better. Our customers can count on us for post annealed Teflon lathe parts. We adapt our machining for turned components that require post anneal for stress relief.

Challenging Configurations

Rings held to close tolerance, parts with thin walls, and unstable materials are familiar challenges in turning. We manage these difficult configurations with proprietary stress relieving and specialized tooling. Polyolefin lathe work is one of our specialties, allowing us to hold close tolerances with a superior, burr-free finish.


If you need lathe parts to test your design, but 3D printed components are too inaccurate, Controlled Fluidics can help. We build production-quality parts in small batches, allowing you to try before you commit. Customers benefit from the flexibility of getting additional clear components to help with process visualization.


Material Knowledge

Over more than twenty years of experience, we have turned nearly every type of plastic available in stock form. We have produced thousands of lathe plastic parts in a multitude of configurations. This deep experience is applied to the customer’s designs, providing support for material selection and manufacturability.
