MICRO MACHINING SERVICES FOR THE MODERN AGE

Controlled Fluidics provides micro-machining of high performance plastics at sub-milimiter scales holding critical features to ±0.0005 in (0.0127 mm) tolerances for complex plastic components used in medical devices, diagnostics, microfluidics, advanced electronics and semiconductor applications. Our plastics-only facilities support tight-tolerance micro parts where size, precisoin and reliability are paramount.

APPLICATIONS USING MICRO-MACHINED PARTS & COMPONENTS

While several industries do benefit from micro machining, we find the following have the most use for such parts.

Micro-Machined Microfluidic Plate for Rapid Diagnostics

A diagnostics OEM needed a micro-machined acrylic microfluidic plate to integrate into a benchtop immunoassay instrument. The design needed sub-milimeter channels and intersecting features with depths <0.010 in plus tight positional tolerances to ensure reliable fluid routing and optical readout. By using dedicated plastics-only micro machinig with 5-axis CNC and optimied toolpaths, the plate was produced with channels widths held to within ±0.0005 in and optical-grade surfaces in critical detection regions. This allowed the customer to shorten assay cycle times, improve signal consistency and move from hand-assembled prototypes to a reapeatable, production=ready diagnostic cartridge.
