UHMW-PE PLASTIC MATERIALS & MACHINING

HIGH-IMPACT PLASTIC WITH EXCELLENT WEAR RESISTANCE

Manufacturers know UHMW-PE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) as another "powerhouse plastic" that experts consider one of the strongest plastic materials available. Due to its extremely high molecular weight, UHMW's molecular chains extend well beyond what other materials (like the standard polyethylene) have. Those contribute to its incredibly low friction coefficients and moisture absorption rates resulting in an exceptional wear resistance and impact strength.

At Controlled Fluidics, we manufacture USDA-approved and FDA-compliant grades of UHMW-PE machined plastic parts to not only the food processing industry but many others as well. Teams choose this material typically for packaging machinery, high-speed conveyors, wear strips, and guide rails.

Watch the video below, and get to know UHMW in under a minute.

  • Extremely low friction coefficient
  • Exceptional wear resistance
  • Low moisture absorption
  • High impact strength
  • Great corrosive chemical resistance
  • USDA approved & FDA compliant
  • Great electrical insulation properties
  • Easy machinability
  • Good UV resistance
  • Can handle extremely low temperatures down to -269°C (-452°F)
  • Low melting point at 130°C (266°F)
