DELRIN AF MACHINING FOR HIGH-WEAR OEM COMPONENTS

SELF-LUBRICATING ACETAL FOR METAL REPLACEMENT IN GEARS, BUSHINGS, & OTHER HEAVY DUTY PARTS FOR OEM DESIGNS

When you need a strong plastic that mimics the properties of metal, Delrin AF may be the perfect solution. Delrin AF components machined for OEMs can take the place of metal parts with metal-like strength, low friction, and long service life in demanding environments.

  • Ideal for replacing bronze and steel in gears, bearings, and bushings while reducing weight and virtually eliminating the need for external lubrication.
  • Tight-tolerance CNC machining for production volumes from pilot runs to ongoing OEM supply.
  • Consistent performance in mechanical, electrical, chemical, and environmental applications across a wide temperature range.

Key Facts about Delrin AF

  • Extremely low friction and wear
  • Chemical resistance
  • Good dimensional stability
  • Natural lubricity
  • Outstanding fatigue endurance
  • Wide end-use temperature range
  • Good electrical insulating characteristics

Delrin AF is a highly versatile plastic material with metal-like properties. Thanks to its chemical resistance, natural lubricity, and wide end-use temperature range, Delrin AF is well suited for projects in a wide variety of industries and operating environments. It is especially useful for components that require lubrication but must function without grease or oil.

Typical OEM Components Using Delrin AF

These applications benefit from lower wear, quieter operation, and reduced lubrication compared to metal alternatives.

Mechanical Systems: Gears, bearings, bushings, cams, and pump impellers for motion control, conveyor systems, and fluid handling equipment.

Electrical & Electromechanical: Switch components, counter frames, and insulating structural parts in electromechanical assemblies.

Chemical & Fluid Handling: Pump and beverage valve components, softener internals, and chemical sprayer parts where chemical resistance and low friction are necessary.

Environmental & Transportation: Marine fittings, fuel senders/modules, and HVAC blower components exposed to vibration, moisture, and temperature swings.

Delrin AF combines acetal homopolymer with PTFE fibers to deliver extremely low friction and wear, high fatigue endurance, and good dimensional stability. The material’s natural lubricity supports components that must run dry or with minimal lubrication, reducing maintenance and contamination risk in pumps, valves, and motion systems. Also, its chemical resistance and electrical insulating properties make it suitable for mixed mechanical–electrical assemblies and fluid-contact components.Other Benefits:
  • Longer service life in high-cycle motion parts.
  • Lower noise and weight compared to metal components.
  • Reduced need for grease and oil in clean or sensitive environments.
  • Material and machining support from initial design through production.

Delrin AF Machining for OEM Programs

We provide CNC machining of Delrin AF prototypes, pilot runs, and full production lots with repeatable quality for OEM programs. We also support for multi-part assemblies, design-for-manufacturing feedback, and material selection when comparing Delrin AF with other  acetal or engineered plastics. Our documentation processes for are made for consistency across repeat orders and long-term supply relationships.
