PLASTIC MACHINING WITH PBT PLASTIC

Pete Poodiack, VP of Sales and Marketing at Controlled Fluidics, talks about PBT plastic and what makes it a popular material for plastic machining and fabrication.

Hello. In this video, we’re talking about PBT. So, PBT is short for polybutylene terephthalate. It is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic, and it’s actually a type of polyester.

In terms of advantages, PBT wears very well against friction. It also has great chemical resistance. In particular, it’s resistant to chlorine and caustic cleaning solutions. That makes it a very popular material for food processing or similar applications that require exposure to a lot of disinfectants or cleaning solutions.

At Controlled Fluidics, we also see this material used in a lot of electrical or scientific research applications. As an added bonus, PBT comes in a wide range of colors from white to bright colorful shades which adds a lot of flexibility to the design process.

This only covers the basics. Learn more about PBT Plastic on our materials page.
